Job summary

We are really pleased to be offering these Specialty Doctor posts.

The posts offered are in General Adult Psychiatry, working in the newly configured Haringey CORE Teams. There are 3 CORE teams, West, Central and East. All are separately staffed with full MDT including consultant psychiatrists and allied mental health professionals.

Main duties of the job

General Expectations of a Specialty Doctor employed with North London NHS Foundation Trust include

o To work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork.

o To be Section 12(2) approved and have approved clinician status and participate in the Trust-wide Section 12 daytime rota.

o To keep up with administration and note-keeping on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ and risk assessments.

o To assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints if requested.

o To keep up to date with mandatory training.

o Other management

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical medical input for the Haringey CORE Team (East, Central or West). The post-holder will be expected:

To support the consultant in managing an established caseload of patients with SMI, many of whom use medication.

To contribute to the management of non-SMI clients in collaboration with colleagues from psychological therapies service streams and other staff groups working in the team.

To contribute to the assessment of newly referred cases per month and formulate appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines.

To comply with all legal obligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures.

To complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining the electronic record and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.

To participate in the weekly team meeting and undertake other duties, as negotiated, that contribute to the good functioning of the clinical team.

To have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of the clinical pathways and priorities of the service line.

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Limited or Full Registration with the General Medical Council UK
  • Membership of a professional indemnity organization

Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Section 12(2) Approval under Mental Health Act
  • Higher degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse area
