Consultant - Enfield South Core Community Team (Lucas House)

Job summary

North London Foundation NHS Trust seeks to appoint an enthusiastic full-time consultant psychiatrist to the Enfield South CORE Team which is based in Lucas House in Enfield. The South Locality Team is one of two Core Community Mental Health Teams (North and South) that together would cover the borough of Enfield. The post is available as the current substantive consultant has taken up a management role.

This post offers 10 Programmed Activities per week - 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and up to 2.5 PAs for supporting professional activity (SPA). The post holder will be required to provide clinical and professional leadership and to take part in related management activities. As a senior clinician, the post holder will have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of clinical pathways and priorities.

Main duties of the job

General Expectations of a Consultant Psychiatrist employed with North London NHS Foundation Trust include

o To work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork.

o To be Section 12(2) approved and have approved clinician status and participate in the Trust-wide Section 12 daytime rota.

o To provide second opinions for consultant colleagues if requested.

o To keep up with administration and note-keeping on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ and risk assessments.

o To assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints if requested.

o To keep up to date with mandatory training.

o To attend and participate in Consultants' and Management meetings to keep informed of service issues and developments.

o Other management/clinical supporting activity (to be negotiated as required by the Trust.)

To manage an established caseload of patients with SMI, many of whom use medication.

To contribute to the management of non-SMI clients in collaboration with colleagues from psychological therapies service streams and other staff groups working in the team.

To act as Responsible Clinician (RC) for the clients of the Locality Team treated on a Community Treatment Order (CTO, S17A MHA) under your PCN.

To comply with all legal obligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures.

To complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining the electronic record and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.

To supervise and facilitate learning to medical staff and other professionals in all aspects of psychiatric care.
