Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic resident doctor (CT1-3 equivalent) to join our in-patient mental health team at Beacon Centre, Edgware Community Hospital, Barnet, London. This post offers an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing severe mental illnesses, such as autism, ADHD, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, within a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

o Participating in daily morning MDT meetings, patient reviews, and case formulation discussionso Gaining comprehensive experience in psychiatric assessment, patient management, and multidisciplinary collaborationo Developing your skills through excellent clinical supervision and training opportunities.o Consolidating physical health monitoring skills through completion of physical checks, ECGs and bloodso Completion of discharge summarieso Develop a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its application

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise from the GMC by the intended start date

Desirable

  • A minimum of 3 months experience in psychiatry (its equivalent gained on a part time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies in psychiatric specialties
  • Other postgraduate qualification of relevance

Experience

Essential

  • Previous medical or psychiatric experience in foundation training or equivalent

Desirable

  • Experience in adult acute inpatient psychiatry including clinical attachment in psychiatry in UK.
  • Experience working in the NHS.
  • Previous evidence of an interest in psychiatry

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, nonverbal and written
  • Excellent skills in assessing physical health and undertake physical examination and blood tests
  • Assessing and prioritising patient needs
  • Excellent IT skills for timely record keeping on electronic records
  • Willing to take instructions and work flexibly

  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural society
