Job responsibilities

1. To join and document morning meetings, ward / community reviews2. Perform clinical assessments of individuals with mental health problems admitted to the ward to assess suitable for supported discharge3. Develop knowledge of mental health, including formulation of care plans4. To perform physical health checks (bloods, ECGs and physical examinations) and liaise with general hospital/GP colleagues to maintain patient physical health.5. Develop psychiatric interview and risk assessment skills6. To be flexible and accessible in providing appropriate care to the patients.7. To work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.8. To comply with the trust values, policies, and procedures.9. To participate in quality improvement work (e.g. audit, service development, etc.).

This is a job based at Crisis / Home Treatment Team, St. Ann Hospital, St Anns Rd, London N15 3TH, Haringey London. This post has 8 DCC and 2 SPA activities. Clinical supervision will be provided by Senior Medical Staff within the clinical senior leadership team as required. There will be an opportunity to attend the local Trust teaching programmes as well as an opportunity to gain experience within Quality Improvement Work.The post will provide excellent experience of working with people with a wide range of acute mental health problems, gaining experience in assessing and formulation of treatment plans.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise from the GMC.
• 2 years of medical experience plus 2 years of psychiatry experience

Desirable

• Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK or equivalent
• Additional degree or equivalent

• Previous medical or psychiatric experience in foundation training or equivalent
• 2 years of medical experience plus 2 years of psychiatry experience

Skills

Essential

• Excellent communication skills, verbal, non-verbal and written
• Excellent skills in assessing physical health and undertake physical examination and blood tests
• Assessing and prioritising patient needs
• Excellent IT skills for timely record keeping on electronic records
• Willing to take instructions and work flexibly

Desirable

• Experience of working in a multi-cultural society
