Job summary
The CAMHS Clinician will join the existing Enfield MHST multi-disciplinary team (that includes a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead, CAMHS clinicians / supervisors from a range of disciplines including clinical psychologists, child and adolescent psychotherapist, CAMHS nurse specialists, Educational Psychologists, and qualified children's wellbeing practitioners and education and mental health practitioners) to support the work within schools.
The qualified Senior Education and Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) or Children's Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) will join this growing team that includes CAMHS clinicians, Educational psychologists, and trainee EMHPs. The post holder will provide support for children and adolescents with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties and deliver evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions in schools, employing CYP-IAPT principles (Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies).
The post holder will provide mentoring for junior staff and support the team with service development. The post holder will develop relationships with designated mental health leads in schools, alongside CAMHS clinicians / supervisors, and educational psychologists, and help them develop their approaches to mental health and wellbeing in schools. They will gain some experience of teaching, training and consultation through this joint work.
Main duties of the job
The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are part of an exciting programme funded by NHS England with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community in response to the government's Green Paper for Young People's Mental Health.
The practitioner role may (site-dependent) focus on providing day to day clinical and supervisory support for the EMHP as they complete their qualifications over their training year and become a fully qualified EMHP.
The MHST team will require development and there will be specific work to ensure robust integration across the schools pathway.
The role will be working alongside community partners and developing relationships between the new MHST and educational settings.
The role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the MHST, providing high quality, safe and responsive specialist mental health services to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals provided in accordance with Children and Young People's mental health training principles, in partnership with service users and partner agencies, working as part of a multi-agency system.
The post holder may have clinical supervisory responsibility/co-responsibility for EMHP clinicians within the MHST and will also work as part of a seniors team, supporting the specialist practitioner and service development manager to set up the new pathway.
