Job summary

This post provides input for service users and their families/carers in the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. The Early Intervention Team works with people with first episode of psychosis, aiming to minimise the impact of the consequence of psychosis and to support recovery through the provision of recovery focused and enabling care

Main duties of the job

This post provides:

A psychological therapies service across all sectors of care in line with qualifications in the person specification, providing:

o Highly specialist assessment

o Direct provision of systemic psychotherapy and other systemic intervention (consultation, brief systemic intervention, group work) in addition to the range of psychological therapies covered by NICE guidelines and the National Standards for Early Intervention (including CBT, and other models and model-informed treatments) to individuals, families, networks, and community groups.

o Joint delivery of intervention with other members of the EIS team to assist engagement.

o Joint therapeutic work with other colleagues in the EIS Team

o Systemic Input/ Consultation to EIS team and multi-disciplinary meetings.

o Structured internal supervision or consultation groups, and reflective practice.

o consultation on clients to non-psychological therapist colleagues and to professional and non-professional staff in local mental health services

Essential

  • Qualification at first degree level and registration with HCPC
  • Doctoral or master's level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy. Registered with UKCP as a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist.

Desirable

  • oRelevant qualification / training/experience in the field of treatment and understanding of mental health

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience of working directly with patients presenting with mental health issues, in an NHS context
  • Experience of facilitating groups for service users
  • Experience of specialist systemic/psychologically informed assessment and direct clinical work with clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, and primary care and in patient settings.

Desirable

  • Experience of the application of systemic and family psychotherapy in and across different cultural/family contexts.
  • Experience of systemic research design and methodology, including data analysis

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of theory, practice, and techniques from a range of specialised systemic and family psychotherapeutic models and evidence of this working with adults with a mental health diagnosis.
  • Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of elevated levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision of other staff, both individually and in an organisational context
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the post-holder's professional body
