St Pancras Head of Programme

Job summary

The postholder will be responsible for the operational management and day to day delivery of the St Pancras Hospital Redevelopment Programme. This will include the compilation and delivery of the Phase 3 full business case and the programme management of all of the enabling projects.

The postholder will ensure that a system of monitoring and reporting of the key milestones for the programme are in place. This will include reports for the Project Boards, Project Delivery Group, Programme Board, Trust Board, NHSE and the DHSC and Treasury.

The postholder will take the lead in the integrated governance programme and risk management approach for the Programme. The postholder will be responsible for the overall programme delivery function including managing staff, budgets and contracts for specialist external support and review.

Main duties of the job

Work in a strong and effective corporate manner with key stakeholders to clarify, translate and describe the St Pancras Programme briefs and deliver highly effective outcomes in a politically sensitive and sometimes contentious environment.

Build strong influential relationships with staff at all levels.

Build effective alliances, internally and externally, to ensure programme priorities are understood and reflect the needs of the organisation and key programme stakeholders including the appointed developer.

Act as a leader for change ensuring that all activities and plans are effective and fresh, and in line with the latest Trust, ICB, local and National Strategies.

Represent the Programme Director as required.

Work in a matrix management style and to foster close working relations with other managers within the partner organisations.

The post holder is expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication.

  • Educated to Masters Level in a relevant discipline.
  • Recognised Leadership and/or Management qualification or equivalent.
  • Programme or Project Management qualification e.g. Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE 2.

  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement, benefits management, knowledge management, change control, governance, scheduling and planning.
  • Experience of NHS Frameworks.
  • Exceptional presentational abilities including paper reporting and formal presenting to senior leaders, clinicians, large groups and public forums, managing and reconciling conflicting views where there are significant barriers to acceptance and/or understanding, in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
