Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of speech and language therapy services within a large London prison. We are excited to be working with our prison colleagues to plan a neurodiversity-and trauma-informed prison wing that will provide an accessible and adapted environment for those who cannot cope effectively on the main residential wings, with significant input from the multidisciplinary network of operational and clinical staff. The successful Speech and Language candidate will be responsible for assessment and management of individuals with communication needs and will offer advice, training and consultation to non-speech and language therapy colleagues. They will take the key role in the development of accessible information and services and will lead on the further development of the Neurodevelopmental pathway- additional training will be available in this area. There are opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in NLFS to maintain competencies with dysphagia. The successful applicant will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a range of mental health professionals. There will be regular professional supervision and they will meet with colleagues from the speech and language therapy team within the wider service. The post will involve liaison, joint-working and providing advice to other clinical, educational and criminal justice professionals and other external agencies when appropriate.
