Islington Core Team Psychology Band 7 Post- Clinical / Counselling psychologist
The North London NHS Foundation Trust is transforming its services to meet the Community Transformation Agenda. The transformation of community mental health services aims to break down the barriers to care, by integrating primary and secondary care services and delivering a model that improves access to holistic approaches, for our service users.
Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for a Band 7 clinical or counselling psychologist to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. The post holder will provide assessment, consultation and interventions where suitable.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The post holder will act as a fully integrated member of the team providing a specialist psychological perspective to support the transformation and development of the service.
The post holder will work with multidisciplinary colleagues to increase psychologically and trauma informed practice as well as offer evidence-based interventions.
We are looking for someone who is keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough and has experience of working with people with complex mental health difficulties from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We are particularly keen to attract people from our local communities.

Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or counselling psychology or PG DiP in CBT/CBT accreditation
- Postgraduate doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society or the British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence and other relevant qualifications in CBT
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council as a clinical or counselling psychologist and/or BABCP
Skills/Abilities
Essential
- Skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment (including psychometric tests) intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health, including challenging behaviours. Specific knowledge of complex emotional needs
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Ability to form good working relationships with others in a multidisciplinary setting and experience of working jointly with other professional disciplines
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively according to the needs of local primary care services

- Experience of working with complex emotional needs, including personality disorder and complex trauma
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
