Job summary
The Assistant Psychologist will support the work of a small team of psychologists working at the Islington Locality Therapy Team, across the Community Neuro-rehabilitation Team (ICNRT) and Rehab (physical rehabilitation team for adults and older adults). The post-holder would be involved in supporting the qualified psychologists in delivering relaxation training, cognitive rehabilitation and other therapeutic interventions. They will be trained in the delivery and scoring of cognitive assessments where appropriate.
For once a week, the Assistant Psychologist will assist the wider team in collecting and analysing outcome data, doing literature searches and other tasks related to service improvement, research and audit.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
- To work alongside the qualified psychologists to deliver interventions such as relaxation training and cognitive rehabilitation
- To work alongside the qualified psychologists to assist in running therapeutic groups
- To work alongside the qualified psychologists to complete and score cognitive assessments
- Under supervision of the qualified psychologists to deliver therapeutic interventions (e.g. graded exposure, behavioural activation)
- To provide a full range of high quality administrative support to the psychology team within ICNRT and Rehab
- To create a maintain a database of local services and provide sign-posting for service users
- To capture data and prepare papers for quarterly reporting to commissioners
- To assist in the design and implementation of research, audit and service development projects within the service as required.
Communication
- Ensure good communication is maintained between colleagues at all levels and service users.
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained when sharing information of a sensitive and contentious nature with other professionals, patients and carers.
- To handle any enquiries from service users and carers with sensitivity and tact when required to resolve problems.
