Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a keen and enthusiastic person to consider applying for the post of Band 7 Ward Manager post on Ruby Ward, North London Mental Health Partnership.

Ruby ward is a 12 bedded acute Women's PICU, we are looking for compassionate and strong leadership to support the recovery of the women we care for and to provide management and leadership for the staff group. There is a strong focus on developing the team, using QI initiatives to reduce restrictive practice whilst increasing nurse led activities and further enhance the experience of our service users. The ward has an excellent MDT that work collaboratively to ensure the care needs are met with professionalism and compassion.

The successful applicant will be fully supported by the Matron, with a development plan and focussed supervision. The role of the ward manager is a challenging one and the suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate evidence of creating a culture of support and learning and have leadership experience.

Highgate Mental Health Centre is also undergoing exciting changes as we expand the inpatient campus with a newly designed innovative hospital being built, set to open in March 2024, ensuring that the patient experience is at the heart of our developments. This will also house a caf which will be open to the public and a gym.

Main duties of the job

The role is open to skilled applicants registered with professional bodies of the following disciplines; Nurse, OT's and Social Workers. We invite and encourage applications from candidates currently working at a Band 6 and above who are looking to gain experience in a senior managerial role.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Enfield and Harringay Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

About us

The role will require focused attention to maintaining throughput and working closely with bed management to ensure the treatment pathway is followed. We welcome applicants that will be creative and enthusiastic in their approach to developing and maintaining high quality mental health care for service users from the 5 Boroughs, Camden, Islington, Barnet, Haringey and Enfield we provide intensive psychiatric care for.
