Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join Camden and Islington's Hospital Division. This is a new and exciting role which has been funded to support our growing exercise provision within the hospital division and routes into the community pathway.

The post-holder will work across the inpatient wards to deliver a comprehensive exercise offer, utilising the multi-purpose sports hall spaces available across the hospital division. The post-holder will work alongside a small team of exercise professionals to provide bespoke exercise plans and goal attainment work. In addition, they will provide a group exercise programme with an emphasis on healthy lifestyle and well-being.

The post-holder will ensure that their practice is in keeping with current evidence-based practices, in accordance with the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics / Code of Members' Professional Values and Behaviour (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy), and will work with OTs, Arts Therapists, exercise professionals and activity workers to provide a comprehensive treatment programme for service users.

The post-holder will have supervisory responsibility for junior staff and student practitioners working on the wards and community who are part of the exercise pathway.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the wider MDT, the post-holder will provide person-centred assessments and interventions, promoting a recovery approach and social inclusion, to maximise physical activity and lifestyle management. T Close working with our partners (e.g. Arsenal in the Community, GLL and others) are key to the success of this role. The post-holder will ensure that their practice meets the requirements of this clinical group and assess the needs of service users with complex mental and physical health needs.The post-holder will ensure that their practice is in keeping with current evidence-based practices, in accordance with the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics / Code of Members' Professional Values and Behaviour (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy). The post holder is expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication.

The post-holder will have supervisory responsibility for junior staff and student practitioners working on the wards and community who are part of the exercise pathway. The post-holder will receive supervision and mentoring from the OT Clinical Lead. The post-holder will be a core member of the exercise steering group to strengthen the exercise pathway from hospital to community and ensure quality provision.
