Staff Nurse – Rehab In-patient

Job summary

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to join our Rehabilitation inpatient wards.

Our new Hospital - Highgate Mental Health Centre East - will be opening in Nov 2023 and will include 3 rehabilitation wards including Sunstone ward, Emerald Ward and Malachite ward.

Highgate Mental Health Centre East is a beautiful building, taking its inspiration from a hotel concept with modern, trauma informed spaces which service users and staff representatives have helped to design.

You need to be compassionate, qualified or newly qualified practitioner. As valued employees of the Trust, our Nursing Team members receive dedicated support from their Team manager.

As part of the role you will be supported to develop your clinical skills, you will be offered the opportunity to provide a lead role on the ward and take part in Quality improvement initiatives. You will be offered regular training and supervision to support you in your new role and will be part of a well-established and patient focused team.

Main duties of the job

Coordinate the shift and take charge of the ward including the development of junior staff in the absence of the Ward Manager and Charge Nurses.

To respond to emergency situations of all kinds including violence, cardiac arrest and fire.

To maintain effective liaison with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as other agencies who are involved in the patient's care.

To support the Ward/Unit Manager and Charge Nurses in professional development programmes and appraisals of junior staff.

Act as primary nurse for a defined group of patients and liaises with the associate nurses to ensure a consistent approach to delivering care.

Assess plan, implement and evaluate the care provided especially with regard to identifying and managing risk.

Accept responsibility for the implementation of the Care Programme Approach with their primary patients

To work in ways that promote and demonstrate respect for services users, colleagues and carers.

Assist in providing a ward environment in which students gain maximum opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills related to mental health nursing.

To link with the relevant faculty of nurse education to ensure that students assessments are completed.
