An exciting opportunity has arisen for a member of staff with Band 5 experience or an existing Band 6 to consider applying for the post for Charge Nurse of Ruby Ward, the Trusts Male and Female PICU service. This is an opportunity to develop and gain leadership skills and management experience
Main duties of the job
We work with patients who are in the most acute phase of their illness in an environment that is more restrictive, the teams work together with our patients to develop the PICU service to improve patient experience and outcome. We have a strong focus on reducing incidents of Violence and Aggression on the wards and increasing nurse-led activities and patient engagment to build a sense of community. Since Ruby Ward re-located to the Highgate Mental Health Centre last year, we are using this wonderful opportunity to develop our service, engaging our patients, carers, and MDT with a focus on future thinking and planning- and we want you to be a part of it!
Both wards have a strong focus on Quality improvement with projects focusing on PICU Flow, increasing nurse led engagement, Reducing Violence and Aggression through building a sense of community, improving Sexual Health outcomes for patients. We are launching a joint QI project across the two PICU Wards to implement the use of Virtual Reality headsets to improve wellbeing for our staff working on our wards.

The successful applicant will be fully supported to by their Matron and Ward Manager, with a development plan and focussed supervision. The role of the Charge Nurse is a challenging one and the suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate evidence of creating a culture of support and learning within a team.
