The North London Mental Health Partnership, [the Partnership of Barnet, Enfield and HaringeyMental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I)] have exciting opportunities for a full time Band 5 Research Assistants, based within the Research & Development (R&D) team, C & I. The team works in collaboration with colleagues at BEH offering support across both trusts' to the ongoing portfolio of clinical research studies. We are currently supporting a range of mental health, dementia, neurodegenerative, and other related studies, offering assistance with coordinating and delivering clinical research activity.

We are looking for a new team member who is passionate, dependable, and able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team. It's expected that applicants will have a strong working knowledge, experience, and understanding of clinical research, and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

The post holder will be expected to take a proactive role in the research infrastructure to supports commercial and non-commercial studies at C&I and BEH. The main aims of the post are to:

  • Supervise and undertake recruitment and screening of service users to CRN: North Thames portfolio of studies mainly focusing on Mental Health, Dementia and Neurodegenerative disorder, ensuring the recruitment targets for the Trust are achieved.
  • Assess and manage patients through the pathway during their time on the trials.
  • Promote and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and members of the research team, as well as and departments across both trusts, and the R & D department, Noclor.
  • Ensure all data is accurately recorded.
  • Collection, analysis and interpretation of data (e.g., experiments, interviews, observations) and/or gather impact evidence.
  • Conducting data-base searches.
  • Effective time management and ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to plan, prioritise own work to achieve agreed objectives
  • Ability to work in a structured way to store data
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Effective administration skills
  • Evidence of gathering data and information within the nhs

A willingness to travel to sites across London is essential as the roles are based within services, as well as an ability or willingness to learn phlebotomy.

The role will also bring opportunities to develop your clinical and leadership skills with many of our previous research assistants moving onto senior roles within the NHS, completing PhDs and DClinPsy training. Along with colleagues from BEH, we also work with other Research Delivery team in London under NOCLOR, which provides opportunities for shared learning and creative thinking. In addition, we are an outgoing and social team who encourage, motivate and support one another.
