Job summary
The post holder would be working as a member of a multidisciplinary Team in The Better Lives Substance Misuse Service in Islington. They will be responsible for providing individual assessment identified clinical interventions and direct care to service users within all hostels in Islington so that we can offer pre-engagement sessions for pre-contemplative people who have mental health problems and substance misuse needs and support people into structured treatment and or plan the correct care plan that has a person-centred approach. They would be expected to work across Islington borough and the Better Lives sites to meet the needs of this population all of which will be offer all of the treatment options open to clients of the service which includes recovery support, Drugs and alcohol treatments and a group programme: the expectations is that they would be working within this integral model in coproduction and inclusion of service user representatives as supporting this as the service pathways develops.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the MDT and works to the team standards and understands and operates to the requirements of the service operational policy and strategy, and that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users. They will contribute to governance and audit within the team, ensuring that team members are supported and developed to their potential and that new team members are comprehensively inducted and successfully integrated into the team. They will support the development of the pathway to work with clients who are housed within the hostel system in Islington and are at a pre contemplative about engagement with treatment . This post will take an assertive outreach approach to working with people affected by substance needs

Essential
- Registered Nurse. Current registration with relevant professional body. OR Other relevant qualification i.e. Solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy etc
- Evidence of extensive experience of working within the substance misuse field .
Desirable
- Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification ( Nurse only )
Knowledge and skills

- To demonstrate a sound knowledge base in the provision of substance misuse services and preferred treatment methods
- Demonstrable understanding and experience of utilising a variety of assessment tools as well as service specialist tools currently used in practice in relation to assessing / planning care needs and determining risk
- Sound practical experience of patient / service user care and engagement within the wider context of the organisation
