Islington Core and Primary Care Mental Health Network- Band 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist

This post is open to current Band 7 Psychologists and to trainee Clinical/Counselling psychologists due to qualify this year. This will be in the form of preceptorship with set criteria relevant to the post reviewed in order to progress to the higher banding.

We are transforming Islington's Community Teams in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and are looking for skilled, innovative clinical and counselling psychologists to join us. This Transformation of community mental health services aims to break down the barriers to care, integrating primary and secondary care services to deliver a model that improves access to holistic care for all.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join us in our Islington Core and Primary Care Mental Health Network teams in order to provide a whole system, integrated and enhanced primary care approach to clients experiencing mental health difficulties.

You will be supported by the Lead Psychologist to ensure the delivery of a high quality, accessible, and inclusive psychological service drawing on a range of psychological approaches to help establish a psychologically informed and trauma informed practice within the team and wider service area through brief individual work, group work, consultation (informal and formal), training and reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

There will be opportunities for service development, quality improvement, and innovative and unique practice in these posts as part of the transformation where you will work in an MDT alongside with health, social care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.

You must be keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough and have experience of working with people with complex mental health difficulties and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We are particularly keen to attract people from our local communities.
