Job summary

We are expanding our continence pathway through a new Continence Enhanced Programme, supporting children and families with Toilet training needs and early intervention strategies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of BDCFT Community Children's Services,contributing to the delivery of the Public Health Nursing offer across 0-5, 5-19 andSpecialist School Nursing services as part of an Enhanced Public Health offer.

Working under the direction and supervision of a band 6 nurse and registered staff,the post holder will support the delivery of a continence service for children andyoung people experiencing bladder and bowel difficulties. This will includeundertaking delegated assessments, implementing agreed care plans, and deliveringevidence-based interventions to support toilet training and continence management.

The post holder will work in partnership with families, schools, early years settingsand partner agencies to promote healthy bladder and bowel habits and supportchildren to achieve age-appropriate independence with toileting.

The role involves identifying when children require additional support and escalatingconcerns appropriately, including signposting or referring to specialist services in linewith agreed protocols and under supervision.

The Community Nursery Nurse will be responsible for carrying out appropriatelydelegated duties, working within clearly defined parameters, and contributing to theoverall effectiveness of the service.
