Job summary
We are seeking caring, motivated and compassionate individuals to join our Dementia Assessment Unit within the Specialist Older People's Inpatient Services. This is a rewarding opportunity to support older adults living with dementia who require specialist assessment, therapeutic input, and person-centred care.
As a Health Care Support Worker, you will work under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care. You will play a vital role in supporting patients during a period of assessment, helping them feel safe, valued, and understood at a time that can be confusing or distressing.
You will be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team committed to promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing for every individual in our care.
Please note: Interviews will be a in person assessment centre (Virtual Interviews cannot be offered)
This position is not eligible for sponsorship set by the Home Office and the skilled worker visa occupation list.
If you are currently a visa holder and your visa status expires, we may be required to terminate your employment in compliance with immigration regulations.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesAs a Health Care Support Worker in Specialist Older People's Inpatient Services, you'll deliver compassionate, person-centred care.
Personal CareAssist with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and emotional wellbeing while promoting dignity and independence.
Clinical SupportHelp with observations, monitor wellbeing, report changes, support emergencies and therapeutic interventions, and maintain a calm, safe environment.
End-of-Life CareProvide dignified support, work with families and the team to ensure comfort and respect.
Admissions & DischargesAssist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and accurate documentation.
Communication & DocumentationEngage with patients, families, and colleagues professionally; record information promptly.
Teamwork & Patient EngagementCollaborate with staff, support activities and therapeutic sessions, encourage engagement.
Safety & FlexibilityPromote safety, follow safeguarding policies, report concerns, and work across wards as needed.
About YouCompassionate, adaptable, calm under pressure, good communicator, team-oriented, willing to learn. Care experience helpful but not essential--full training provided.
