Head of Programme

Job summary

We know that being supported close to home, closer to family and friends and staff who know you, with a range of different community services and shorter lengths of stay improves the outcomes and experiences for people using specialised services. We also know that due to the way our current systems are set up, people who use specialised mental health, learning disability and autism services are too often cared for away from their home and community, and experience fragmented care in restrictive settings and may stay in hospital longer than they need to clinically.

The West Yorkshire & Barnsley ATU Provider Collaborative aims to address this fragmentation by enabling local systems to work together , with a view to reducing the number of people who are cared for out of area and creating the services the population needs through local re-investment. This will enable providers to better address health inequalities and tailor services to local needs.

NHS-led Provider Collaboratives can include providers from a range of backgrounds, including third sector providers such as in the housing sector, other NHS trusts and independent sector providers. Provider Collaboratives work closely with Integrated Care Systems and local Integrated Care Boards to support improved commissioning of services for people within the same population footprint. They will also work alongside service users, carers, and families.

Main duties of the job

In line with the above a Provider Collaborative has been established for Learning Disability ATU services for the people of West Yorkshire and Barnsley. The following organisations have formed the Partnership:

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT)

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT)

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYPFT)

The Head of Programme will be responsible for working jointly with the Medical Clinical Lead and Non-Medical Clinical Lead for the West Yorkshire and Barnsley LD ATU Programme. Together they will provide the leadership, direction, and delivery support to the Programme. This is a pivotal and influential role responsible for developing a new approach to delivering specialist ATU provision across West Yorkshire and Barnsley.
