Job summary
We have a wonderful opportunity for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join South and West Community Mental Health Team.
You will be joining a highly skilled team of Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Therapists, Support Workers and consultants in our integrated team, working with adults with severe and enduring mental health needs.
You will be encouraged to work both agilely and from the office base . We offer regular clinical supervision, caseload management and 1-1 support.
An interest and experience in working in mental health is ideal, however the right candidate will be given support and training to gain these skills.
Main duties of the job
The Band 5 Community Occupational Therapist will provide community-based care to clients with severe and enduring mental health needs who have been referred into the integrated Community Mental Health Team. They will work as an autonomous practitioner working under supervision of senior colleagues to manage and prioritise their own caseload and will act as a Care Co-ordinator for those with Occupational Therapy needs within the Care Programme Approach. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of Occupational Therapy needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions for a defined caseload of people with mental health and/or social care needs.
The job purpose is to manage a case load with the support and supervision of a senior occupational therapist:
- Utilising the evidence base and specialist occupational knowledge and skill
- Prioritising own workload and managing time effectively
- Contributing to team and service development
- Being involved in supporting students and assistants with their development and learning
- Adopting working hours in accordance with the team requirements
