Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and innovative person, who is committed to improving the experience of parents and babies, with a focus on supporting infant feeding in the community. We need someone who feels confident working with parents and babies in the community particularly around infant feeding, and aspires to be part of the developing Community Infant Feeding Team and Family Hubs.

The Community Infant Feeding Team support worker role will be primarily to give assurance that all the Family Hubs and satellite venues are welcoming, supportive, and informative for any breastfeeding mother to feel at ease feeding her baby or child and follow UNICEF Baby Friendly criteria for venues.

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose:

The Community Infant Feeding Team support worker role will be primarily to give assurance that all the Family Hubs and satellite venues are welcoming, supportive, and informative for any breastfeeding mother to feel at ease feeding her baby or child and follow UNICEF Baby Friendly criteria for venues.

Any mother feeding their child by any means will feel welcome however the focus of this role is to support the Bradford District Breastfeeding Strategy by protecting, promoting, supporting and normalising breastfeeding.

The role will also support the key messages around the importance of early parent infant relationship building for all families and that this underpins the feeding relationship. Embedding Ready to Relate as an integral part of the role.

Support the development and implementation of baby feeding groups and breastfeeding volunteers within Family Hubs, will form a key component of the role. Supporting the Targeted Breastfeeding Offer will also form part of the role over time.

Contributing to and supporting community events as the service develops will also beexpected.

  • Diploma in Child Care and education (CACHE) Or NNEB BTEC Diploma in early years Or NVQ level 3 early years care and education (City and Guilds, EDEXCEL, OU) Or 3 years' experience in a voluntary or paid capacity supporting infant feeding in the community or hospital setting.
