Would you like to help to improve outcomes for Children and Young People in Norfolk and Waveney? An exciting opportunity is now available for applications from individuals who would like be part of the Norfolk and Waveney Healthy Child Programme (0-19years), delivering the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and vision and hearing screening to school aged children in Norfolk.

We currently have a part time post available for 16 hours per week, on a term time only - 12 MONTH SECONDMENT. The post will cover the South Locality Monday 9-3pm, Tuesday 9-3pm and Thursday 9-2:30pm. The nature of the work means that the post holder may be required to travel across the county of Norfolk depending on service need.

A full training programme will be provided to support the successful applicant

Main duties of the job

To deliver the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) to reception and Year 6 children in Norfolk Schools. Conduct vision and hearing screening on reception age children and also ad-hoc hearing screening.

We are seeking motivated individuals who have an excellent range of communication skills and are able to work effectively with children of varying ages and abilities.

The post holder will require remarkable organisational and reporting skills, along with the ability to co-ordinate and schedule individual workload.

Main Duties and Responsibilities1. Be responsible for organising provision of hearing and vision screening and monitoring ofheight and weight for children of school age within the Norfolk area under the direction ofthe Healthy Lifestyles/ NCMP Screening Co-ordinator2. Undertake routine screening for hearing and vision within schools for children agedapproximately 5 years, according to the Trust Clinical Standards and participate in thetraining and subsequent observations required.3. Appropriately refer children to the Specialist Community Health Practitioner or otherregistered nurse within the 5-19 team, in partnership with parents, where a problem hasbeen identified, according to the protocol.4. Inform parents of the results of screening tests within an agreed time frame, and liaiseabout any further testing or referral.5. Undertake routine weight and height measurements of children in year R and 6 in line withthe National Childhood Measurement Programme.6. Prioritise referrals for audiograms according to levels of need/urgency.7. Within this role you will need to travel as an independent practitioner on a daily basis,across Norfolk which involves both rural and urban travel. The nature of our work doesresult in travel arrangements changing at short notice. Due to the large geography ourservice covers and the limitations of sufficient public transport to undertake this role youmust hold a full and current driving licence and have access to your own transport.
