We are looking for an enthusiastic Dietitian to join our friendly Adult Clinical Community Team in Luton and South Bedfordshire.
Community Dietitians have the fulfilling task of working with patients, families and carers within their own homes or community bases, to support them to achieve their nutritional goals and maximise nutritional status.
To be successful, it is vital to build strong links and work closely with the community health and social care multidisciplinary team, and extend this to our acute colleagues whenever necessary.
We welcome applications from existing and newly qualified dietitians, as well as student dietitians awaiting qualification and HCPC registration.

Our team work with a diverse population across Luton and South Bedfordshire. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a range of community dietetic services including:
A home visit caseload, working with patients and the people involved in their support system to maximise effectiveness.
A general community clinic caseload, covering a vast array of clinical conditions.
Dietetic support for the community mental health service. We work with patients, their support workers and the wider MDT.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To deliver dietetic services provided by the Adult Clinical Community Team. Delivery of services includes assessment, treatment and ongoing management of community patients including community clinics and domiciliary visits.
- To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including biochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical condition, diet history and social circumstances.
- To use clinical reasoning skills to interpret data and implement appropriate patient centred nutritional aims and plans including timely onward referrals as appropriate.
- To utilise prioritisation skills and plan the day-to-day provision of dietetic services within your own caseload.
- To ensure your own nutrition and dietetic knowledge is up-to-date and evidence-based including the current developments for nutrition in community dietetics.
- To act as an autonomous practitioner to provide expert nutritional advice. This may involve seeking advice from peers within and outside the Trust.
- To be professionally and legally accountable, and responsible for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care.
- To evaluate and review your own work, seeking the views of others and adopting the principles of evidence based practice to ensure maintenance and development of clinical and professional standards.
- To contribute to the development and provision of education and training on a range of dietetic issues to health and social care professionals.
- To work independently and undertake lone working in the community.
- To represent the team and department at exhibitions, events, and local meetings.
- To be involved in undertaking development work within the Team, this could include clinical audits, service improvement, resource development, newsletters, and updates to social media/websites.
- To contribute to the training of student Dietitians.
- To ensure work is in line with departmental, trust and national dietetic standards.
