Job summary

Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust (DIHC) has developed and integrated primary care with community-based services within Dudley since 2020 with its core aim being community where possible and hospital when necessary. We are currently working with organisations within the health care sector in Dudley and the Black Country System to look at the best way to continue to deliver the services to our patients. As such the services within the organisation may transfer to other organisations over the course of the next 12 months.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a developing team where you can influence improvements for the benefits of our patients, and have access to a range of training and development.

You will have excellent assessment skills and be able to direct care with compassion and efficiency, promote mental health, and liaise with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory organisations. You will be a confident communicator and be able to work well with a range of professionals.

The ability to manage your own case load of clients is paramount, along with the ability to triage referrals for the non-urgent mental health pathway, undertake mental health assessments, risk assessment, medication management, deliver brief interventions and refer/signpost clients to other services. The role demands the ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of often challenging mental health problems presented by clients within a primary care mental health setting.

You will provide day to day oversight and support to a team of mental health professionals, offering clinical supervision, education and problem solving advice to other members of the local primary and secondary care teams particularly in the areas of assessment and management, including medication of common mental health problems in adults over the age of 18 years.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general level of education to GCSE (A* - C Grade) or equivalent
  • NMC Registered Nurse in Mental Health
  • NMC Registered Independent Prescriber - V200 or V300
  • Qualification relating to supervision or willing to undertake the training

Miscellaneous

Essential

  • Full current UK Driving Licence & Insurance (ability to travel between different locations and undertaking home visits)
  • Able to travel quickly and efficiently across a geographically dispersed area without need to utilise public transport

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years post registration experience
  • Non-prescribers must have a good general knowledge of mental health medication prescribed within primary care
  • Experience of working with individuals with complex mental health needs both acute and long term
  • Experience of working in a primary / community and secondary care environment
