Job summary
Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Consultant Paediatrician with a Special Interest in Neurodevelopmental Disorders
This newly developed post is part of a substantial investment in the services offered to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT). The post holder will provide consultant input and leadership in a community setting as part of an all-age neurodevelopmental service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's main objective would be to provide medical input to the neurodevelopment team who provide assessment and treatment for children and young people of school age with autistic spectrum disorders and ADHD. This will include completing assessments, providing consultation to other professionals, overseeing multidisciplinary treatment plans and appropriately prescribing medication if required.
In particular, they would be expected to assess complex cases such as:- where there is a significant risk of self-harm, harm to others or risk of neglect- where there is diagnostic uncertainty or complexity- where the interaction of potential illness and personality factors needs to be evaluated.
The post holder would be expected to see around 12 new patients a month and 48 follow up reviews per month. It is expected that this substantial new investment will address historical waiting lists for neurodevelopmental assessment.
