Part time Named Nurse - Children In Care Band 8a

22.5 hours per week, permanent role

An exciting opportunity has arisen as a Named Nurse For Children In Care within the Children's and Young Peoples Physical Health Directorate within Coventry. This role offers a valuable opportunity to be part of leading an innovative service, develop your professional expertise and make a difference where it matters.

Applications are invited for enthusiastic and experienced Nurses or Public Health Practitioner with experience of working with Children in Care and clinically/operationally leading Children's Services to join our amazing team within Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust.

Main duties of the job

To act as the main point of contact for professional liaison and consultation regarding children in care.

You will lead the promotion of good practice for Children in Care, advocating for their specific needs within our organisation,

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across health services and in the local authority and Integrated Care Board to ensure that the health needs of Children in Care are recognised, understood and met.

To provide quality assurance in relation to the completion of statutory health assessments.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First level nurse /midwife Mental Health, Learning Disabilities Qualification
  • Qualification and registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification eg ENB 998 or similar
  • Educated to Masters, level or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Skill

Essential

  • Sound knowledge and application of Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice
  • Ability to assess, plan implement and evaluate programmes of quality care for highly complex & vulnerable children & young people
  • Ability to communicate the importance of Children In Care (CIC) issues to staff who may carry out delegated functions or care, who not managed by the CIC Nurse; working collaboratively to monitor & improve CCI outcomes
  • Awareness of national and local policies in relation to the National Health Service (NHS) and Social care with respect to CIC
  • An understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Children and other supporting legislation / guidance
  • An understanding of the public health context of supporting CIC
  • Good understanding of the vulnerabilities CIC face
  • High levels of knowledge of child & adolescent development

  • Demonstrable post qualification experience of working with children & young people in a range of settings
  • Working with highly vulnerable children & young people
  • Carrying out complex assessments of a CYP's development and identifying where further investigation, assessment or escalation may be required
  • Formulating complex care planning & intervention, particularly requiring collaboration from other professionals to achieve the CYP's outcomes
