Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist (Band 5 - Full Time- 20 months Fixed Term) to join the Personality and Complex Trauma (PACT) service. This Assistant Psychologist post will support the Consultant Adult Psychotherapist, Senior Psychotherapists, and Mentalisation Based Therapists in the provision of specialist input to service users with complex mental health needs. This role is funded via an expansion of Forensic Community Services and will involve working across PACT and Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT).
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist will be involved in the development of an MBT service for individuals with forensic presentations or who present with risk to others. It will involve supporting the creation and facilitation of innovative group interventions, as well as the ongoing running of the established Mentalisation-Based Treatment (MBT) Programme across PACT.
The Assistant Psychologist will be supported to develop qualitative research skills including designing and conducting interviews, as well as clinical skills in the cofacilitation of therapeutic group interventions.

- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, relating to complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Participate and undertake audit evaluation and research. Completed clinical audits within a service
- Ability to function in a largely autonomous fashion, subject to suitable supervision
- Appropriate understanding of confidentiality in a mental health
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits & employment systems
