Job summary

Gramer House is a Children's respite unit that offers overnight respite with children who have significant learning disabilities, complex health needs and/or behaviours that challenge.

we currently have a vacancy for 6 months fixed term band 6 Deputy manager to cover maternity leave. if you are an enthusiastic RNLD we would welcome you to apply. you would be joining a friendly dedicated team that put children at the forefront of care for all their needs.

The post holder is responsible for assisting the manager in the provision of care over a 24hour period 7 days a week.

They will work as part of a multi disciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive packages of care for children and young people with a learning disability/and or Autism who access Gramer and Holly House or those who receive an individual package provided by the service.

They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to the staff team and ensure the effective running of the service in the absence of the manager.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Nurse manager to organise and develop a safe and stable environment, taking into account the physical, psychological and social needs of the children.

Support the Nurse Manager in continuously improving service quality, responding to local and national demands in respect of short break provision.

To be competent in performing behavioural management / nursing interventions appropriate to the children's needs who are referred to the service for overnight respite or to provide an individual package which could be in the family home or community.

To undertake comprehensive and specific assessments of the children's and families' needs and in partnership, working with other disciplines/agencies.

Assume responsibility in medical situations, drawing on knowledge, skills, experience to confidently manage the situation to its resolution.

To work as part of a team to coordinate the delivery of care.

To work in partnership with others, to assess and identify the child's needs, taking into account parenting capacity, environment as well as the child's needs.

Follow processes of reasoning which balance additional information against the overall picture of the child's needs to develop a hypothesis.

Decides upon interventions from a holistic assessment of the child's needs.

Undertaking risk assessments and developing care plans.
