Job summary
We are recruiting for 1 xBand 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (0.87 WTE - 32.6 hours per week) to work acrossFACTT and Community FASTER forensic services. This is a split role supporting both teams.
This opportunity is available as an 18 month fixed term contract or as a secondment for internal applicants.
About the Services
FACTT (Forensic Assessment, Consultation, Training & Treatment Service) is a community forensic service for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Community FASTER (Forensic Autism and Learning Disability Support, Training and Enhanced Risk Management) is a newly developed forensic service supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults across the West Midlands.
Both services are based at Brooklands Hospital and involve agile working, including working from home and across Trust locations.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic adults, ideally within community or forensic settings.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting individuals across secure and community pathways, contributing to engagement, recovery and risk reduction.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and non-clinical support to the Speech and Language Therapist (SLT)
- Implement Speech and Language Therapy programmes devised and supervised by the SLT
- Contribute to assessment and intervention with service users in forensic and community settings
- Work in a trauma-informed, person-centred way, adapting approaches to meet communication, sensory and emotional needs
- Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of both FACTT and Community FASTER services in line with Trust values and priorities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
Work with autistic individuals and individuals with a learning disability in forensic inpatient and community settings as directed by the supervising SLT and/or service lead.

Support the development of functional communication skills that enhance engagement, independence, and safety within forensic environments.
