Adult Neurodevelopmental Service

Location: Coventry and Warwickshire

Hours: 30 Hours

Are you a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for neurodevelopmental practice? Are you seeking a development pathway that will support you to grow into a senior clinical role? Our Adult Neurodevelopmental Service is excited to offer a development post for a motivated SLT to progress from Band 6 to Band 7, dependent on completion of a structured competency framework. Our multidisciplinary Adult Neurodevelopmental Service supports adults with ADHD, Autism, and related neurodevelopmental needs. We provide diagnostic assessments, post-diagnostic support, and evidence-based interventions to help individuals thrive in daily life.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A registered Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration and RCSLT membership.

  • Passionate about supporting neurodivergent adults.

  • Confident working independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Motivated to develop advanced clinical skills and take on leadership responsibilities.

  • Committed to reflective practice, continuous learning, and person-centred care.

About the ServiceThe Role

This development post offers a supported pathway from Band 6 to Band 7 responsibilities.

Band 6 Responsibilities

As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, you will:

  • Hold and manage an intervention caseload for adults with ADHD and Autism.

  • Provide individualised communication interventions

  • Deliver evidence-based interventions aimed at communication, social interaction, and functional skills.

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical formulations.

  • Participate in service development initiatives and audit activity.

  • Receive structured supervision and training to support development toward Band 7 competencies.

Band 7 Responsibilities (on successful progression)

Once competencies are achieved, you will transition into a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist role, where you will:

  • Lead on diagnostic assessments for Autism and/or ADHD as part of the MDT.

  • Provide advanced clinical expertise and contribute to diagnostic formulation.

  • Act as a Clinical Lead for the SLT pathway within the neurodevelopmental service.

  • Offer clinical supervision to junior staff, students, and support workers.

  • Lead service improvement projects and contribute to strategic planning.

  • Represent the service at local and regional professional forums.

Experience with neurodevelopmental populations is desirable but not essential--training and development will be provided.

  • Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Further training and experience in specialist area to Masters level or equivalent
  • Significant post graduate training in relevant to the role

  • An excellent understanding of the specific contribution of Speech and Language Therapists in Specialist Learning Disability and Autism services.
  • Ability to demonstrate team building, leadership and organisational skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding and ability to practice in a person-centred way within community and inpatient settings.
  • Knowledge in developing and delivering specialist clinical interventions e.g. PBS within Specialist Learning Disability and Autism services.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clinical and management supervision skills
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment services and the specialist role of Speech and Language Therapists.

Experience
