Family Intervention Worker

The closing date is 05 December 2025

Job summary

A wonderful and unique opportunity has arisen for a Family Intervention worker to join our Family Interventions team. We are looking for an autonomous, dynamic and passionate family worker to work 22.5 hrs in our established team. You will be required to work across all localities within CWPT supporting families and carers who have loved ones under the 3 Early Interventions in Psychosis services.

Early Intervention in Psychosis is an innovative and evidence-based model. The teams work with service users aged 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode or early psychosis, and their families, for up to 3 years, as well as people presenting with an at-risk mental state. There is a strong commitment to provide an excellent standard of care and to continually improve what we do.

Why do we need this post? What is the impact of caring for someone with psychosis?

- 72% of carers responding to Carers UK's State of Caring 2018 Survey said they had suffered mental ill health as a result of caring

- 61% said they had suffered physical ill health as a result of caring

- 8 in 10 people caring for loved ones say they have felt lonely or socially isolated

The role will involve delivering family intervention, specifically the: Meriden 'Behavioural Family Therapy' (BFT) Model to families open to the service.

Main duties of the job

Your role would be integral to helping to support and engage carers in the service including one-one or in small groups.

Your role would be to provide evidence-based family interventions to service users and their families. You would work as an integrated part of the MDT, and co-work families with other professionally qualified team members. Having training in FI is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.

You will work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and all other relevant health professionals to support in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating high quality interventions.

The ideal person will work side by side and assist dynamic multidisciplinary teams of workers providing support to people of the local community.

This is an opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment as you work alongside experienced senior staff and receive regular supervision within the service.
