Main duties of the job

The Primary MHTR service provides psychological intervention to people coming into contact with the criminal justice system who are granted a mental health treatment requirement as part of a community order. The Assistant Psychologist (MHTR Practitioner) role is central to assessing suitability and offering brief interventions to this client group, under the supervision of a Principal Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical Lead).

The team, with support of criminal justice partners and colleagues, aims to divert people away from the criminal justice system and short custodial sentences, and reduce reoffending via improving access to psychological interventions by addressing underlying unmet needs.
