Job summary
As a senior nurse in the directorate the Associate Director of Nursing and Quality will carry responsibility to act as a strong role model for all colleagues by demonstrating credibility and visibility, strong commitment to identifying development opportunities, celebrating success, and encouraging creativity, innovation, and excellence in practice.
This will be achieved by demonstrating strong compassionate leadership and holding joint responsibility with the Deputy Medical Director for Mental Health's agenda's, Clinical Governance and Compliance standards across the directorate; thus, supporting the Associate Director of Operations Services for CYP in the directorate and working in collaboration with the Trust leads in these areas.
The role will include effective regional networking and implementation of national policy with and external organizational bodies, including the engagement with Integrated Care Boards and providing assurance on the quality of services.
The Associate Director of Nursing will promote a positive culture of learning and openness and ensure clinical staff across the directorate have the knowledge, capability, systems and support to embed lessons learned in practice for the improvement of patient care. This includes leading on quarterly Directorate Learning Lessons events and the promotion of positive cultures within teams and the directorate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the Trust Leads in the following areas:
- Protection of children and young people (CYP) with care and support needs - to promote and safeguard the welfare of CYP with care and support needs.
- Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines. (if appropriate)
- Infection Control - To be responsible for the prevention and control of infection
- Incident reporting - To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Trust's incident reporting policy ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence. learning from incidents in a broader context Trust wide
- Risk Management - To contribute to the identification, management and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility.
- Clinical Audit and Effectiveness - To ensure day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety and patient experience.
- Health, Safety and Security - to be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients/ clients, visitors and staff.

Demonstrating a high level of communication, both verbally and written, the post hold will provide assurance in a range of ways, as well as ensuring Children services are prepared and performing at a high level, achieving the Key Lines of Enquiry standards, supporting innovation, supporting practice development and developing initiatives.
