Job summary

Positive Directions (Vanguard) AHP Team - Trauma Informed Practice, Children and Young People.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Children and Young People's Positive Directions (Vanguard) AHP Team for a Band 8a Advanced Occupational Therapist 0.8wte for 20 months (until end of March 2027)

Positive Directions is an ICB funded initiative that uses a social prescribing model with trauma informed practice to offer targeted support to children and young people least likely to have their needs met through mainstream support. For example, this includes children and young people at risk of criminal activity or prolonged school avoidance. The AHP team includes Occupational therapy and Speech and language therapy.

The OT role includes opportunities to work in community settings, hospital settings, and school settings.

This unique and innovative OT role provides occupational therapy assessment, clinical reasoning, and clinical recommendations, primarily through consultation to practitioners working directly with children and young people open to Positive Directions. The OT role is continuing to emerging and requires clinical leadership and an innovative approach from someone with an interest in developing and evaluating a unique role, in conjunction with the AHP Directorate Lead.

There is an option of some remote working and the roles have a physical presence at the Coventry City Centre office base, 1 Friargate.

Knowledge

  • Highly specialist knowledge of assessment and treatment of mental health conditions within a paediatric population
  • High level clinical assessment, examination, investigation, and diagnostic skills
  • Able to produce high quality reports, policies, and protocols

Experience

  • Able to demonstrate having worked in an autonomous expert role utilising clinical assessment skills in highly complex situations
  • Experience of supervising qualified staff and students
