Job summary
The Clinical Review Officer will work as a senior member of the Clinical Review Team, based within the portfolio of Acute Services. The Team delivers a range of comprehensive clinical reports to meet commissioner targets for placement reviews and the Trust's repatriation agendas. The post involves taking a lead role in having an over sight of all patients with 117 after care needs, who are subject to Deprivation of Liberty and Court of Protection cases. The Role will ensure that all patients who have 117 after care needs are in the least restrictive environment and if there are restrictions needed, the proper legal framework is in place to manage this.
The Post Holder will support and lead on the development of the Clinical Review Team in terms of understanding the COPS and DOLS process and offering supervision in this area and other areas of the Clinical Review team.
The Post holder will hold a caseload and will support other practitioners who also have the cases that are going through the COPS and Dols Process.
The Post Holder will ensure there are processes in place in ensure all issues relating to COPS and DOLS are shared with the team to ensure a seamless process for these cases.
Main duties of the job
To hold a case load of patients who have 117 after care needs who will be subject to restrictions. These cases will require the right legal framework in place to ensure patients needs can be met.
To complete timely reviews on patients who have 117 aftercare needs. These reviews will be documented in a timely manner. They will be clear and concise and document any restrictions that have been identified and action plan on how to address issues identified.
To lead on the COPS and DOLS two weekly meetings that support clinicians to seek advice on their cases and to have oversight on actions that are needed to progress cases through the process.
The post holder will manage and organize competing and conflicting priorities to ensure the requests from legal teams in relation to COPS and DOLS are actioned within the time frame set out.
The post holder will be a resource of enhanced clinical knowledge and competence in the service area. Part of this will involve modelling the required standards and supporting others to achieve them and will include providing supervision both formal and informally to individuals and groups as required and to maintain appropriate records.
The post holder may be required to act up in the absence of the senior clinical manager and to undertake delegated responsibilities as required, such as chairing the Quality Assurance Forum out of panels and managing team inboxes.
