Job summary

Community Children's Nurse Clinical Educator Band 6 - 37.5 Hours Per Week.

Our Clinical Education team is part of the wider children and young people's community nursing service. You will join a team who are passionate about delivering excellent clinical nursing care to our patients in their home, in our special schools, and our residential respite setting.

We are seeking a highly motivated, committed and passionate individual to join our Clinical Education team. You will be required to work clinically alongside student and newly qualified nurses and our workforce of children's carers, facilitating their learning of new skills and knowledge. As part of the clinical education team you will have a responsibility for facilitation and implementation of educational programmes.

As a minimum you will need to be a registered nurse who is confident in a range of clinical skills and has experience of working with children and young people with complex physical health needs.

Main duties of the job

Develop and deliver programmes of training and education for members of the CYP Community Nursing Service, students, both undergraduate and post-graduate undertaking placements with the service, and external agencies including the voluntary sector and staff in education and early year's settings.

Act professionally, developing the role of registered and non-registered nursing staff in the best interests of the CYP's and the nursing profession in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct.

Maintain an identifiable clinical presence and undertake relevant clinical activities to maintain own clinical competency and therefore be able to support and guide staff in developing their own clinical practice.

Ensure that evidence-based practice is developed and implemented to improve patient care. To contribute to the updating and the clinical content of the Coventry and Warwickshire Children and Young Peoples Competency Framework.

Act as sign off mentor for pre-registration student children's nurses.

Act as a preceptor to newly registered nurses working in the service.

To participate in the service on-call rotas including supporting end of life care.

To act as mentor and supervisor of junior staff and carers.

Act as lead author for clinical policies and procedures
