Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, Brooklands Hospital are looking for Healthcare Apprentices!
Brooklands Hospital is a specialist service, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to people with a learning disability.
We are seeking to recruit several Health Care Apprentices to join us in delivering high quality, compassionate care across all our units.
Our Units are for those with a learning disability who have may have offended and require treatment in hospital, the patients may have transitioned down from our medium secure unit or come into hospital directly from the community. The focus of the Units is to provide patients with treatment and learning opportunities which will minimise the impact of their learning disability and other diagnosis. The treatment will address their offending behaviour, through recognising and managing their own risks and equip them with meaningful skills for future life. This will be achieved through providing a therapeutic environment and treatment which fosters trust and encourages self-esteem. A stable skilled team and a defined treatment pathway are essential in achieving these aims.
We need a team that can support in maintaining physical, procedural, and relational security. A team who displays our Trusts Values and puts our patients first.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate may have experience of Mental Health and/or Learning Disabilities and Autism or a willingness to learn, preferably possess Maths and English Qualification and must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years to access Apprenticeship funding.
You will attend classes in Coventry 1 day per week and spend the rest of your hours at Brooklands Hospital site applying your apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours.
You will be learning to support our patients both on and off the units, this may be with daily living skills, activities or attending patient meetings. you will also escort both on and off the hospital grounds.
Our units vary and may include a craft room, on the grounds activities such as horticulture , sports , click sessions, walking groups and the onsite gym.

Complete the National Care Certificate under supervision
Enrol and complete the Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship
Take a role for care delivery under the direction of our dedicated Health Care assistants, our qualified nurse/deputy/unit manager.
Actively encourage patients to become involved in all aspects of their lifestyle.
This includes the monitoring and updating person centred plans.Support patients to identify their own health needs and support themaccessing health professionals and facilities.
Identify and provide practical and emotional support for patients to engage in a range of everyday tasks, which include supporting patients with theirpersonal hygiene needs, cooking, shopping, cleaning, managing finances,budgeting and all aspects of patient engagement.
The post holder will support patients to access and participate in social,leisure, educational and occupational activities within the unit and the wider community. This will involve escorting patients away from the unit following a full risk assessment.
Identify possible risk situations and report them to the manager and follow risk assessments.
To act as a key worker for patients.
Perform and record clinical observations in line with Trust policy.
To learn and have knowledge or be prepared to learn about the CQC requirements within an inpatient setting.
All staff will be trained to an agreed level of managing violence andaggression, accredited Safety intervention training (SIT) Once this traininghas been achieved, the staff member will be expected to respond to incidents such as physical aggression and restraint.
The post holder will be required to use a computer.
The use of routine medical equipment may be required to monitor physical observation as directed by the qualified nurse.
