The Coventry Community Dental Service's Oral Health Improvement team is looking to recruit an Oral Health Improvement Practitioner who has a genuine desire to help reduce oral health inequalities. This post provides the opportunity for you to work from a modern and well-equipped health centre on the edge of the UK's city of culture.
As a member of the oral health improvement team, the post holder will work with general population groups and targeted higher risk groups across Coventry & Warwickshire promoting and delivering a high standard of oral health promotion in line with local and national oral health strategies.
This will include the development and delivery of oral health improvement programmes in partnership with Health Professionals, partner agencies and settings across Coventry and Warwickshire. Evaluating, monitoring and reporting on performance form an important element of the role. To achieve this, you will need to use creative and innovative thinking to develop inspiring and informative oral health improvement programmes and interventions and have a good grasp of IT to capture qualitative and quantitative performance data.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be confident and competent to deliver "train the trainer" oral health sessions to targeted groups in the community. Your experience of participation in health campaigns and the production of high-quality resources will demonstrate your creativity and imagination. The postholder will liaise closely with local ICB's and local authorities to deliver coordinated care and seek further opportunities to improve the oral health of our population.
As well as being an excellent communicator, you will have proficient IT skills. You will understand the oral health needs of our local population, engaging positively with those most vulnerable to oral health inequalities and disadvantages. Other duties include, providing oral health promotion, supporting national campaigns and informal training for a variety of employees working in the community, including health professionals and peer educators.

Working patterns are flexible within the hours Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 5.00pm. Occasionally you will be required to work outside these hours. This is an Coventry and Warwickshire wide role so car drivers are essential.
The Health Centre is located within easy access to all transport links. There is a Pay & Display car park adjacent to the building and street parking nearby. Alternatively, if you do choose to run or cycle to work, a secure bike lock up is available free of charge, and showering facilities are conveniently located on the same floor as the department.
