Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join the friendly, highly motivated Coventry Community Dental Service (CCDS) based in the City of Coventry Health Centre. We require an enthusiastic and conscientious Senior Dental Nurse to join our professional and supportive team of Dentists, Dental Therapists and Dental Nurses to provide patient focused community dentistry for people with more complex needs and conditions. The service also comprises an Oral Health Promotion team, a domiciliary service, sedation service and provides regular GA sessions at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
This new post holder will have the opportunity to assist in the provision of special care and paediatric dentistry, incorporating Inhalation and IV Sedation, General Anaesthetic sessions, domiciliary care and working in our mobile dental unit. You will play an important part in the service's continuous development and our aspiration to further improve on our CQC 'good' rating in all five areas of assessment.
You will be responsible for managing a small team of Dental nurses under the supervision of the Dental Service Operational Lead and Dental Clinical Lead.
Main duties of the job
To assist and support the provision dental treatment and dental health promotion for all groups of patients cared for by the Community Dental Service. Patients will have a variety of special needs including learning disabilities and behavioural problems, physical disability, mental health conditions and complex medical conditions.
To assist the Dental Nurse Manager in ensuring that dental facilities operate effectively and safely.
To support the organisation, monitoring and evaluation of dental care and provide information for the development of services and training of staff.
To line manage the dental nurse staff, including carrying out appraisal, clinical supervision, managing sickness and leave.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has taken the decision to no longer continue to provide Dental services, when the current contract expires at the end of March 2024.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is currently working through the process to identify the most suitable provider in the wider NHS local system.
Your application to work in Dental services will not be adversely impacted by the change in provider. Should you be successful in your application and commence employment prior to the transfer, your contract of employment (that is your terms and conditions of service as at the point of transfer) will automatically transfer to the new organisation, under the "Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006" (TUPE) as amended by the "Collective Redundancies and Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (Amendment) Regulations 2014".
Should you be successful in your application and commence employment after the transfer, your contract of employment will be issued by the new provider of Dental Services.
