We are looking for experienced Children's Nurses to join our Children and Young People's Community Nursing Service. This post is specifically to support the services residential respite unit, The Birches and continuing care packages supporting children with complex health needs to attend school or provide care in their own home. The role is a valuable opportunity to be part of an experienced team, to develop your professional expertise and make a difference where it matters.
This post offers excellent opportunities to care for children with a wide range of physical / learning disabilities who have complex physical health needs.
Main duties of the job
The posts will involve shift working including nights and weekends. The service delivers provision 365 days a year. We are able to offer flexible working options and recommend contacting the service discuss further when making an application.
There is the option for the post to be rotational offering a wide range of experience in community children's nursing and special schools ideal for someone wanting to develop their career as a community children's nurse. Equally we would welcome applications from candidates who feel they would be best suited to working in the Respite settings of the Service or prefer to work in a team that requires shift working.

QUALFICATIONS
Essential
- Registered Children's Nurse who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification or willingness to work towards
- Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to work towards
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential
- High standard of written communication skills
- Must have good working knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Must be able to demonstrate sound personal management skills - time management, prioritising, planning
- Must have a wide range of clinical skills required to care for children with complex health needs.
- Must demonstrate safe clinical practice including risk assessment.
- Must demonstrate a high standard of communication skills with the multi agency team
- Must have good working knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Must be committed to principles of Equal Opportunity
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of supporting babies, children and young people with a range of complex health needs and/or life limiting conditions
