Job summary
This vacancy is a 6 months fixed contract.
A wonderful and unique opportunity has arisen within CWPT NHS Trust for a family support worker to join our Family Interventions team.
Why do we need this post? What is the impact of caring for someone with psychosis?
- 72% of carers responding to Carers UK's State of Caring 2018 Survey said they had suffered mental ill health as a result of caring
- 61% said they had suffered physical ill health as a result of caring
- 8 in 10 people caring for loved ones say they have felt lonely or socially isolated
The role will involve delivering family intervention, specifically the: Meriden 'Behavioural Family Therapy' (BFT) Model to families open to the service.
This model is a vastly evidenced intervention that is proven to:
- Reduce the level of distress that family members experience and assists them in their role in supporting the person towards recovery (Jones, 2009)
- Family intervention reduces relapse and hospitalisation (Pitschel-Walz et al, (2001), Bustillo et al (2001), Pilling et al (2002) among others
