Job summary

Gramer house is a children respite unit who provide respite for child aged 5-19 with learning disabilities and additional health needs based in the north of Warwickshire.

We are looking for some caring committed health care support workers to join our dedicated team of nursing and nursing support staff to support the children who come to our service for respite care.

some experience of working with children with a learning disability or autism is essential and further training is available.

This role is exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and therefore a clear enhanced DBS is required

Main duties of the job

To provide all care for the children receiving respite care including personal care ,cooking dinners and engaging in social activities with the children that are appropriate to their ability and age .

Qualifications

Essential

  • To have / willing to work towards NVQ Level 3 - equivalent / relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Willing to undertake training to administer drugs
  • Attend staff development programmes, workshops, training courses as required.
  • Undertake the role of key worker to the children.
  • Understands the importance of different types of communication systems and is willing to participate in relevant training.
  • Shows ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Has an understanding of age appropriate activities and able to engage children in such activities

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a recognised care setting

  • Valid UK Driving licence
