Head of children's physical health therapies- Band 8b
We are building capacity in our senior leadership and management team so our services can be supported to grow. This post will work closely with the Head of Service for Community Children's Nursing and our medical lead for Paediatrics. Across the range of services we are meeting the therapy needs of children with increasingly complex needs in special schools, their own home, clinic and hospital in-reach settings. We share in the trust's priority of integrating children's community health services to enable us to offer the best experience for our children, young people, families and carers.
Within this portfolio is children's Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy Communication, Speech and Language Therapy dysphagia, Dietetics (sub-contract with acute provider), AHP neonatal service (launching October 2023) and specialist children's respiratory physiotherapy service. Teams are skill-mixed across settings, valuing and learning from everyone's contribution to looking after our children and young people. We are supporting advanced and specialist practice to a high standard. This role will provide professional leadership to all AHPs working within children's physical health services and will share the chair of child death meetings with the Head of Service for Children's Community Nursing.
Main duties of the job
portfolio of services. The post holder will be a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) managing the specialist service line and will be pivotal in ensuring that positive outcomes for patients and staff are achieved.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that services are delivered safely; to a high standard and within budget. There will be a need to be transformative and innovative as services expand and relationships across the system are developed to meet local needs
They will work with others to continuously improve services, ensure service user and carer experience is positive; services are responsive and accessible and transitions between services are smooth and seamless.
They will ensure that clinical governance mechanisms are in place, driven at a local level, ensuring lessons are learnt and experience informs 'best practice'. This will include working with Safety & Quality colleagues to ensure that lessons are proactively learnt via the appropriate formal and informal processes, and that complaints and concerned are managed to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
