Spencer Ward is currently an 8 bedded, mixed sex, acute treatment ward. We bring to you the perfect career development opportunity, within the ever expanding and developing service of acute services.

We are looking to recruit a Registered Mental Health Nurse and you could be just the person we are looking for! You should be motivated, kind, compassionate and be willing to work as part of a team, with a can-do attitude to be successful in this role.

We need someone who can offer the flexibility to work with the challenges of working shift patterns across 24 hours a day, 7 days per week in a very busy inpatient environment. In return, we will offer the opportunity and experience that will support you in developing skills and career development.

As a Band 5 Nurse with strong clinical skills, clear decision-making, and good risk assessment skills, you will work within a cohesive team. You must have an empathic approach to enable and promote recovery. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills. As a Band 5 Nurse, you will spend time having face-to-face contact with our patients as this job puts patient care central to all that we do.

Main duties of the job

-Working cohesively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient care

-Contributing to clinical risk assessments and care planning as part of the patients recovery from inpatient services to community

-Leading and coordinating patient care in addition to advocating for their needs

-Liaising with patients and their family and carers and responding to identified needs

-Delivering evidence based interventions and delivering therapeutic care

-Responding to emerging physical health needs of patients in addition to mental health needs to ensure patients are treated holistically

  • Contribute to the assessment process looking at physical and mental well being.
  • Deliver treatment and required interventions of mental health needs reporting to a senior member of the team as required and working within professional codes.
  • Deliver aspects of the care cluster pathway ie. providing a range of interventions.
  • Deliver evidenced based interventions, implementing and following care and treatment plans.
  • Monitor concordance to care and treatment plans reporting back to multi- professional staff as appropriate.
  • Support care packages from undertaking assessments of needs.
