Job summary

We are a psychology service that spans multiple physical health disciplines, providing psychological assessment and treatment for people with long term conditions in Coventry. This includes neurorehabilitation and palliative care provision. There is an exciting opportunity to work with our multidisciplinary teams supporting patients, families and their carers. Our work is community based allowing us the privilege of meeting the person in their own home or providing clinic-based work. This role will span all the disciplines but your focus will be in Palliative Care. We encourage and support professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the systematic provision of a high quality specialist Clinical Psychology Service to a wide range of patients receiving palliative care and long term conditions, and their families and carers.
  • To work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues in Integrated Palliative Care Services and OOH services within the Community Health and Well-being Directorate.
  • To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinical members of the teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
  • To provide specialist advice and consultation to a range of multi-agency professionals and non-professional carers, and utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.
  • To offer training and supervision to multi-disciplinary colleagues
  • To propose and implement policy changes within the areas served by the team/service.
  • To work autonomously within the professional guidelines and overall framework of the Trust and teams policies and procedures.
  • To assist in the quality and activity monitoring systems
  • To adhere to the lone worker policy

  • Registered by the HCPC, specifically including models of psychopathology and two or more distinct psychological therapies

Experience

  • Assessed post-qualification experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist., including neuropsychological experience, sufficient to have completed Band 7 preceptorship requirements
  • Experience of working with people and their carers in a physical health setting
  • Experience of working with a range of clients, presenting a range of clinical severity and maintenance of professionalism in challenging circumstances
