Job summary

We are a specialist multidisciplinary Children's Learning Disability team, working with children & young people with a Moderate to Severe Learning Disability or Global Developmental Delay and Behaviours that challenge. We work closely with families and carers as well as other professionals to support the young person. We are a team of experienced Learning Disability Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, as well as Consultant Psychiatrists, clinical Psychologists, A music therapist and a support worker.

You will work to assess a young person regarding any sensory needs they may have as well and finding meaningful occupations that will contribute to a positive behaviours support plan that the team are using frequently to support young people with behaviours that's challenge.

As an occupational therapist in them you will have your own caseload of young people to support but also work alongside and offer consultation to other MDT members of the team. You will have access to good Clinical and managerial supervision and peer support from our existing Band 6 Occupational therapist.

As a team we prioritise and encourage CPD within the team and wider across CWPT trust.

Main duties of the job

Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions with children who have moderate to severe Learning Disability and behaviours that challenge.

We are a small community Team, working with Children and young people up to the age of 18 years who have a diagnosis of moderate to severe Learning Disabilities, and behaviours that challenge as well as any other additional health needs.
