As a team we strive towards delivering a high standard of care and this is reflected in the feedback we receive from the patients and relatives who have had experience of being on our ward.
We are a nurse led unit that provide in-patient rehabilitation to a wide range of adult patients with complex and functional needs. We also specialise in End of Life Care and Long term Conditions. Patients are admitted from acute hospitals and the surrounding community.

Main duties of the job
Starling ward is an 24 bedded elderly rehabiltation ward. We accept patients from the acute wards, direct from accident and emergency, direct from the community, and from other organisations.
The main duties of the role are:
As a caterer/porter you will provide a high standard of food preparation and service for both hot and cold food and drinks. Ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and tidy. Within this role you will provide simple porter duties, such as rubish and linen removal from the ward. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as being able to use your initiative when required. This role is shifting working days including weekends.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will possess good organisational skills and be able to contribute to the development of flexible working arrangements within the team.
Starling ward is a rehabiltation ward that supports the needs of the patients , promoting independence is paramount in order to get the optimum outcome for the patient and also specialise in palliative and end of life care.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
