Job summary
This is a breast surgery specialty doctor post providing
services for residents within the catchment area of County Durham and
Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is based at Darlington Memorial Hospital but the
role may involve programmed activities across the Trust.
The post will be based around the sessions of two breast
consultants and will be expected to comprise elective in-patient and day case
surgery, general and specialist out-patient clinics & MDT working. The Department has a commitment to the career
progression of Career Grade Doctors and skills required for specialist aspects
of the post which will be developed within the post..
Main duties of the job
Be
responsible for the day-to-day care and management of patients in the One Stop
Clinic.
Be given
opportunities to develop surgical skills and clinical management experience by
assisting in theatre with our oncoplastic breast surgeons.
Participate
in outpatient clinics with the assessment of both new and review patients.
Attend
all operating and outpatient commitments of their supervising Consultant.
Hours of
work may vary according to Clinical need.
Be
expected to provide cover in unforeseen emergencies and exceptional
circumstances and to deputise for absent colleagues in the normal run of duties
so far as is practicable.
Continue
to demonstrate progress towards personal development goals.
Participate
in clinical audit projects within the Department.
Perform
administrative duties in a timely fashion.
