Job summary
We are looking to recruit to two part time posts on our 26 bed gastroenterology
ward. We have a fixed term contract for 11 months to cover maternity leave and a fixed term contract for 1 year to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidates will work within the team to provide safe care to our
patients. We are a 26 bed inpatient gastroenterology ward. The role will
include working in the team to ensure a high level of care is given to our
patients. This will include overseeing the care given by junior staff,
documenting care given, administering medication, arranging safe discharges.
This will need a good level of communication with the multidisciplinary team
including doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticiens and
other specialist nurses. Communication with patients and their relatives is
also a key part of the role. We also work closely with the cancer specialist
teams and povide paliative support to some of our patients

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
